There is something very special and accommodating when you see Lauren Phillips come rushing over from the red carpet to you to ask about how my children are, and to give a hug after not catching up after 6 months when we last spoke when I was pregnant. Rachael Holland has been a picture of beauty and has proven that she is more than ‘arm candy’ for her lovely husband Nick. Both ladies are beautifully poised and elegant and I would be happy for my daughter to look up to them as role models being as beautiful inside and out.
This is where I think beauty competitions do maybe have their place. Every lady in this sphere has shown eloquence and the ability to think on their feet about subjects they may not be totally engrossed in but have a legitimate friendly answer. I am talking about Jen Hawkins, Rachael Finch and the lovely Jescinta Campbell whom I have had the pleasure.
Unfortunately some models are made just for clothes to be put on and you understand why the microphone is never put on them and then you remember that they have never accomplished anything within their own realm only the status of their partner. When asked by reporting photographer for a photo with this person, I was asked to step in I was greeted by a snarl, reminiscent of the Tasmanian Devil. I was happy to sit that one out. Don’t want to get in the way of a hungry model. Model maybe but will never be a role model.
Oaks Day luncheon the day was marvelous with the A list Freddie Fox, Stephen Jones and Zandra Rhodes. I was accompanied by my beautiful mum whom was taken ill half way through the event. She is on the repair for all my dear friends inquiring. But I loved seeing my gorgeous Qld friends Dale Olsson and Jennie Bartels. Cannot wait to see you all for Magic Millions.
