I would say that allot of fashion on the field contestants are going to be really excited about Dior Couture 2012. It really says Racing Fashion personified. I find it a little uninspiring when you think of the grandeur we saw with Galliano and just when I think we are going to see something new it goes back to what we have seen before. The colour is gone and what I would personally say, a very safe collection. We go back to Dior Grey, 'New Look' and the exaggerated ball gowns may be a little to much play even for myself. I leave it up to you and remember this is to inspire us. Take what you love and leave what you loathe. For the nipped in waist remember you must have a stunning waist to wear this nipped in mid section, but otherwise the large tulle can be a winner if made by the correct couturier.

2012 Racing Fashion Predictions |
|
Racing Fashion is moving as fast as a freight train right now, with the colour blocking craze hitting high during Spring Carnival, unfortunately it is going to be shortly lived as it was seen come in. Flash, there it goes. We are just starting to now see the Boardwalk Empire 20s Flapper craze come onto the Hollywood red carpet now with Gucci and other major houses coming on trend. As with new shows my prediction will be with 2 piece suits and exceptionally tailored dresses with the 60s Pam Am Craze. I am definitely not saying colour is out, I am just saying take it easy on colour blocking right now as the trend will disappear very shortly as we have seen on international catwalks. Pastels will come in to the high street ranges, thinking of last seasons Chanel, and gem tones always keep ladies the right side of fabulous looking fantastic. Think of tailored figure hugging outfits, with spanx underneath. The shift dress is always a hit when done correctly, remember the balance of the top and bottom.

I personally love this look and the pillbox will make another comeback this season. Never dismiss the wide brimmed hat as they are fantastic for our harsh Australian Climate and lets admit, they are showstoppers.

Pastels and Tea length skirts will give an air of elegance.

Pearls and ladies, get those brooches out again!

The most stunning feature anyone can have on the Fashions on the Field catwalk is an honest smile and enjoy being there. These trends will not hit the high street stores until maybe Spring/Summer next year so make sure that you see your favourite dressmaker.

By the way, you just don't have to be at the races to wear a hat. x
