Master milliner Paris Kyne has one motto in life – “expect the unexpected and expect the best”. It’s a philosophy he proudly lives by, and has inspired some of the country’s most eccentric and colourful headpieces.
Starting out as a hat blocker, Kyne acquired his technical knowledge and sound manufacturing technique working for internationally renowned milliner, the late William Beale. After working for several years on Flinders Lane, Kyne opened his own salon in 1994 in Malvern before relocating to Toorak Village in 2000.
Today, Kyne’s wonderful hats can be seen at racecourses around the world – from England’s Ascot to France’s Longchamp. He has cemented a reputation as one of Australia’s most creative and talented milliners and has crafted hats for celebrities Tara Moss, Paris Hilton and Molly Meldrum, Melissa George, Anna Mott and Marcia Hines.
Kyne has been inducted into the Stonnington Fashion Hall of Fame in 2008, has made the crowns for the king and queen of Moomba and has won dozens of Fashions on the Field competitions over the past 20 years.
