One thing when I head up to Sydney I know I am going to be in for some fashion surprises, and I may add that this was one of the strongest ‘Fashions on the Field’ yet. That is including Melbourne, everyone is upping their game and wow, Sydney you may be overtaking Melbourne. I did think allot of other things should have finaled in the classic ladies racewear, but you can never assume to know what the judges are looking for.
One thing is for sure, the 50s look is definitely over, but ladylike chic will always be in. Jane Wilkinson from North Bondi won in her contemporary take on racing fashion which I really liked and the beautiful Lisa Wellings coming a very close 2nd. Congratulations to both beautiful ladies.
I have to make a very special mention to my gorgeous friend Danica Erard, taking out the millinery award. Danica, was wanting someone to model her millinery and I said why not you. You are beautiful and I am so glad that all the judges saw that beauty as well as her signature style pleating winning on the day. I am so proud and happy for you. Equally, I am happy for my dear friend Joanne Donovan, a former Melbournian now a Sydney Gal. Joanne had made a beautiful felt floral piece and I was so glad to have two dear friends in the final. Congratulations. There were mainly hits on Derby day and a few misses, but I must comment in the millinery section two competitors had no millinery or one had a headband. I was perplexed why this was not pulled up at entry. I guess it has given a good feel for these competitors in the future. Thank you Sydney for being so welcoming to me and thank you to the ladies who came up and told me how much they loved the site. That was so special to me. Don’t forget that Racing Fashion TV is going to be airing in Sydney so watch the TVS site to see when we will be showing. I loved it all.
